PRISTINA, May 28 (Hina) - The new French defence minister, Herve
Morin, has said that the status quo in Kosovo could not last and that this
UN-administered province needed a solution that would provide a peaceful future
to its residents. Morin, who visited Pristina on Monday, said that
Kosovo was at the biggest crossroads in its history and added that violence
against local Serbs in March 2004 showed that the status quo could not last and
that it was necessary to be cautious.
During his day-long stay, Morin visited a 2,000-strong French
contingent in northern Kosovo and held talks with the NATO-led Kosovo Force
commander, General Roland Kather.
