Seks was in Bratislava attending a two-day conference of parliament speakers from EU countries and accession candidates.
After meeting the president of the Cultural Alliance of Croats in Slovakia, Juraj Cvecko, Seks said the minority, present in Slovakia for 450 years, enjoyed an excellent position and a high level of preservation of cultural heritage and national identity, also thanks to support from the Croatian government.
Cvecko said Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader had pledged financial assistance for Croatian language textbooks for Croat children in Slovakia willing to learn the language.
The Croat community in Slovakia is estimated to comprise 3,000 members living mainly in four villages near Bratislava. The Cultural Alliance is financially supported by the Croatian and Slovak governments.
