We plan to accelerate negotiations with Croatia because by doing so we will send a clear signal to the region, Amado said, adding that Portugal would work on the stabilisation of this region.
Presenting the priorities of Portuguese Presidency, Amado expressed hope that by the end of Germany's Presidency of the EU, the UN Security Council would adopt a resolution on Kosovo which would pave the way to the resolving of the status of this UN-governed province seeking independence and give legitimacy to the planned engagement of the EU in Kosovo.
The Portuguese minister also advocated the continuation of accession talks with Turkey. Amado stressed that the fast and full stabilisation of Southeast Europe would complete the stabilisation process in the European continent.
