Negotiations with Croatia are in a full gear and I am satisfied with the fact that Croatia is doing well in the negotiations, Rehn told reporters at the end of a meeting of the EU foreign ministers, answering a question as to why the EU Council was currently not discussing any document from the European Commission on the basis of which conditions for the opening of negotiations on individual chapters could be met.
I would like to talk to the sources making such claims and clarify the misunderstanding, Rehn said.
It is very important that the technical part of the negotiations is proceeding smoothly, but it is critical that the reforms are implemented so that Croatia could meet obligations related to EU membership and I am confident it will do it by the end of the decade, the commissioner said, underlining the importance of accelerating the judicial and economic reforms.
