After visiting the newly-opened plant, which is to employ 406 workers, Mesic said Croatian manufacturers were capable of competing in the European market, as evidenced by the readiness of Calzedonia's management to do business in Croatia.
Economy Minister Branko Vukelic said the government would continue to financially support the development of the textile industry and thanked the Italian partners for their trust and investments in Croatia.
Varazdin County Prefect Radimir Cacic said that the Brezje plant was the third greenfield investment of the Calzedonia Group in Croatia. So far, the company has invested around KN 430 million in Croatia and its investments could reach KN 600 million by the end of the year, Cacic said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Italian Ambassador Alessandro Graffini.
The Calzedonia Group employs around 2,000 people in Croatia.
