After the signing ceremony, Seks said that the key point of the document was Hungary's assistance to Croatia in Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
The committees of the two parliaments in charge of foreign affairs and European integration will assist in the conveyance of Hungary's experience to help Croatia join NATO and European Union as soon as possible, Seks said.
Seks said that in addition to the European dimension of the memorandum its purpose was also to intensify bilateral cooperation at all levels.
Seks said he was confident that with Hungary's assistance Croatia would become a full member of the European Union in 2009, and that the international transport corridor Vc, which is to link Budapest to the southern Croatian Adriatic port of Ploce, would be completed for the most part by 2010, when Pecs is to become the European City of Culture.
Noting that Croatian-Hungarian parliamentary cooperation had made significant progress, Szili said that Hungary supported Croatia's aspirations to EU membership and that the document signed today would help Croatia join the bloc as soon as possible.
She said that the Hungarian government fully supported the construction of the international transport corridor Vc and that it considered the project to be in the common interests of Hungary and Croatia.
Szili said that she and Seks had also discussed the joint bid by Hungary and Croatia to host European football championships in 2012.
Today's working meeting was held as part of regular annual meetings between the speakers of the two parliaments in the Croatian-Hungarian border area.
