"With the admission of Croatia, the thing will be fairly completed," Glos said in a political broadcast by the ARD TV station on Sunday evening.
The minister also expressed his opposition to the admission of Turkey, adding that these two matters were not inter-related.
"Croatia is a country belonging to Europe, and Turkey is not," he said proposing that Turkey and Ukraine be offered models of partnership with the Union.
A Greens parliamentarian, Daniel Cohn Bendit, said that Croatia could not be admitted to the Union as long as the Nice Treaty was in place.
