By this pilgrimage and prayers let us join those who are trying to give a spiritual satisfaction for all crimes committed against and evil inflicted upon the innocent and express solidarity with each victim, without making any difference - let us remember Jews, Serbs, Croats. Slovenes. Roma. Muslims and members of other peoples and religions killed in the Jasenovac concentration camp, the bishop said.
Jasenovac Concentration Camp was the largest concentration and extermination camp in Croatia during World War II. It was established by the Ustasha regime of the Independent State of Croatia in August 1941. It was dismantled in April 1945. Unlike other concentration and extermination camps, in Jasenovac the main victims were ethnic Serbs, whom Ante Pavelic considered the main racial enemy of NDH, although other groups, like Jews and Gypsies, were also the victims there.
