OSIJEK, Feb 10 (Hina) - Branimir Glavas, a member of Parliament suspected of involvement in war crimes in the early 1990s, who has been treated in a hospital in the eastern city of Osijek, was released from hospital on Saturday to continue with recuperation at home, Dr Aleksandar Vcev said.

Glavas was released from hospital at 11AM but according to Dr Vcev, he still needs to fully recover and continue with psychiatrist treatment.

Court medical experts from Zagreb and Osijek who examined Glavas last week said he was fit to follow investigative proceedings, but that taking Glavas into custody again could cause new traumatic situations, and that his treatment and full recovery would take several months. They recommended recuperation at home.

Osijek County Court investigating judge Mario Kovac scheduled a hearing in the so-called Sellotape case for February 14, while Zagreb County Court investigating judge Zdenko Posavec said the investigation in the "Garage" case would continue on February 19 and 20.

Psychiatrists said it was their expert opinion that Glavas should not attend the hearings to which Glavas agreed.

Glavas is suspected of involvement in the torture and murder of Serb civilians in the garages of the Secretariat for National Defence in the eastern city of Osijek in 1991 (the Garage case). He is also a suspect in the war crimes case dubbed the Sellotape case, which concerns the murder of Serb civilians by the Drava river in Osijek in 1991.

On 26 Ocotber last year Glavas arrived in the Remetinec prison on hiw own after Judge Posavec set a detention for him. He immediately began a hunger strike, asking that he be provisionally released pending trial.
