It would be wrong to leave the negotiating table, Karel de Gucht said on Thursday after meeting his Serbian counterpart Vuk Draskovic in Belgrade.
The Belgian official said that he got the impression from statements by Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica that Belgrade was intending to withdraw from the negotiations.
The Serbian premier has announced he will refuse to meet the UN special envoy for Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, who is arriving in Belgrade on Friday to present his proposal for the definition of the final status of Kosovo.
Addressing the reporters after the talks, Minister Draskovic called on the European Union to apply the existing models to Serbia and Kosovo and in this context he mentioned the cases of China and Cyprus.
The Belgian minister was also received by Serbian President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Kostunica.
