According to the Slovene Press Agency (STA), Rupel told the weekly that some of the difficult conditions set for Serbia Serbia should be transferred to the final phase of the negotiations, adding that those conditions should not be imposed now when Serbia is at the beginning of the negotiating process. Rupel also said that Belgrade's cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague did not necessarily mean that Mladic should be arrested and extradited to The Hague.
Diplomatic sources in Brussels said that European countries did not have a unified position in interpreting the term "constructive cooperation" that the new Serbian government is expected to show towards the international community. Slovenia, Greece and Italy advocate a more flexible treatment of Serbia, saying that Mladic's arrest should not be a condition for negotiations, the Slovene Press Agency reported.
