"The Czech Republic supports Croatia's admission to the EU and NATO and it is interesting that the Czech Republic will preside over the EU in 2009, when Croatia expects to take part in elections for the European Parliament. We both hope that this will happen," Gordan Jandrokovic of Croatia said after meeting his Czech counterpart Jan Hamacek.
The Czech official said that the talks revolved around Croatia's integration with the EU. He added that he informed Jandrokovic of the fact that there was a consensus among all political forces in his country regarding Croatia's aspirations to join the EU during the Czech EU presidency in 2009.
This would put the finishing touch on Croatian-Czech relations, he added.
The two officials also discussed the promotion of cooperation in tourism and the use of the northern Adriatic port of Ploce by the Czech industry.
Hamacek invited Jandrokovic to visit the Czech Republic, which the Croatian official accepted. The time of the visit will be determined at a later date.
