Ministry says there is no danger of anthrax spreading from Bosnia to Croatia

Autor: mses
ZAGREB, Sept 1 (Hina) - Croatian Agriculture Ministry spokesman Mladen Pavic has said there is no risk of anthrax spreading from Livno, Bosnia-Herzegovina, where it erupted recently, to Croatia.

There should be no problem when its comes to our livestock or livestock products, as neither livestock nor livestock products are imported from Bosnia-to Craotia, Pavic told Hina on Wednesday.

In addition, security measures have been intensified at that part of the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

According to the Bosnian Federation's statistics, 17 head of cattle died in Livno in the last week, with eight of them having contracted anthrax.

Anthrax is an acute disease caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis. Most forms of the disease are lethal, and it affects animals and in some cases people.
