ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - The Croatian Culture Ministry on
Wednesday presented results of a Croatian-Dutch twinning project for the
implementation of the European Union acquis communautaire regarding the
protection of endangered species and the implementation of the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The project was launched in January 2007, and the Netherlands financed
it with EUR 300,000.
According to Culture Ministry State Secretary Zoran Sikic, Dutch legal
experts have analysed the Croatian legislation and given recommendations for
its further adjustment to EU standards.
A protocol has been drawn up for activities of relevant services in the
control of cross-border trade in protected species, and some other steps have
been taken for this purpose.
