ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - Croatia ranks 53rd on the annual list of 57 most competitive countries, compiled by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), in Luasanne, Switzerland, the Croatian National Competitiveness Council reported on Wednesday

Croatia fell by two positions, according to the 2009 World Competitiveness Yearbook, compiled by the IMD.

The United States, Hong Kong and Singapore top the rankings on the 2009 World Competitiveness Scorebook with Switzerland finishing fourth.

Main competitiveness factors which the IMB has been assessing for 20 years are Economic Performance, Government Efficiency, Business Efficiency, Infrastructure.

Croatia's performance was the best in infrastructure in which it ranks 41st.

In general economic results it is positioned on the 43rd place, and the poorest performance is in the efficiency of the business sector's efficiency (55th ranking) and in the government's efficiency (51rd ranking).

Croatia has been included in the IMD list for the fourth year in a row.
