The Chamber of Commerce and the San-Sat company today organised a presentation of possibilities for coming to the Russian market, and at the event Froelich said there were no major obstacles to the appearance of Croatian businessmen on the market given that the two countries had signed all the necessary agreements, including a bilateral double taxation avoidance agreement.
However, Croatia's export to Russia comes to a mere US$ 200 million, while Russia's imports in Croatia exceed $3 billion.
This gap has been caused by the large import of Russian gas and oil.
Croatia is successful in exporting pharmaceutical products to that market, according to Froelich.
Croatia could enter market niches in construction, food production, the energy sector, electrical appliances etc, Froelich said, adding that Croatian businessmen had achieved good results in Russia some 20 years ago.
He also welcomed the Croatian government's recent decision to lift visas for Russian tourists.
The San-Sat company's director-general, Nadezd Baranovski, pointed out Siscia, a clothing manufacturer, and Ivancica, a footwear manufacturer, as positive examples of Croatian companies exporting to Russia.
