The measures taken by the Croatian government in a bid to cushion the impact of the economic crisis should soon yield first results, Degert said at the conference organised by the Croatian Bar Association and the Bar Council of England and Wales.
Degert also cited the fight against corruption and organised crime and the reform of the judiciary as major problems lying ahead.
Speaking of a stalemate in Croatia's EU accession talks due to Slovenia's blockade over the two countries' border row, Degert called on both countries to reach an agreement on the issue.
The head of the Croatian Bar Association, Leo Andreis, said that the association welcomed the government's efforts in streamlining the judiciary.
Andreis refuted allegations about a high level of corruption in the judiciary, underlining that he was absolutely sure that those were untruths never corroborated by facts.
