ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - The municipal court in Zagreb on Thursday sentenced controversial businessman Miroslav Kutle to three years in prison for wrongdoings in the privatisation of the Gradski Podrum restaurant in downtown Zagreb, and the verdict delivered by Judge Rahela Sakac is subject to appeal.

Another four indictees in this case were also found guilty and got prison terms.

Last night, Kutle was arrested by the Croatian police during an attempt to flee to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was remanded in custody during the day, but given that his prison sentence for the Gradski Podrum privatisation case is under five years and that the court did not explicitly request his detention pending a final ruling, he was probably detained for other reasons.

According to the ruling, the Globus company, owned by Kutle, caused damage to the Gradski Podrum in the amount of HRK 1.2 million and the sum will be impounded from Globus.

All the indictees will have to pay together HRK 100,000 for the services of court experts and each of them will pay an additional HRK 5,000 for court costs.

Kutle has already been tried for other white-collar crimes including embezzlement and murky dealings in the "Tisak" newspaper distribution company and the Diona retailing chain.
