During a foundation-stone-laying ceremony for a new high secondary school in Split on Saturday, Primorac said that nobody was irreplaceable, but as far as he knew now there was no potential candidate currently for the new science minister.
Speculations about Primorac's resignation appeared a few weeks ago.
On 16 June Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that Primorac would not resign.
The PM made the statement when asked by reporters to comment on reports in some media that Primorac would soon leave the government.
On that occasion Primorac told reporters that he would meet Sanader later to "discuss all details".
"I must talk with the Prime Minister, it's a matter of good manners and gratitude for everything he has done for me," Primorac said, adding, "On the other hand, you know that no one is irreplaceable."
The minister added that he would not have joined the government six years ago and that progress would not have been made in education had it not been for PM Sanader.
