ZAGREB, June 30 (Hina) - A downward tendency in the Hendal-Lider
business optimism index called Hlipo, which started in mid-2008, continued
throughout the first half of 2009 with a 0.8 percentage point fall from May to
June, when it totalled 88 percentage points. This indicates negative
trends in the coming period, a news conference heard in Zagreb on Tuesday.
The news conference was held on the occasion of the fourth anniversary
of the measurement of the Hlipo index.
Over the past four years, when the business climate in Croatia was
assessed by this index, Hlipo forecasted future trends in the Croatian economy
rather precisely, the Hendal market research agency's director-general, Nevenka
Hendrih, said in Zagreb on Tuesday.
