ZAGREB, July 1 (Hina) - Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) official Andrija Hebrang told reporters in Zagreb on Wednesday the HDZ leader Ivo Sanader had proposed him as the party's candidate for the country's presidential elections,
adding that he would think about it in the coming days.

Andrija Hebrang told reporters in Zagreb on Wednesday the HDZ leader Ivo
Sanader had proposed him as the party's candidate for the country's
presidential elections, adding that he would think about it in the coming
days. Hebrang said he was honoured by the proposal, stressing that
he would decide whether to accept his candidacy or not this autumn.
Earlier today Sanader announced his resignation from the active
politics and from the post of Prime Minister and the HDZ chief.
At a news conference explaining his resignation, Sanader also spoke
about candidacies for leading posts in the HDZ and for some duties in the
country's authorities.
