Addressing the event, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said the government's economic recovery measures included changes in local self-government.
She recalled that the recovery programme also envisaged the reduction of public administration by five per cent.
Speeches were held also by Annemie Neyts Uyttebroeck, the ELDR president, HSLS President Darinko Kosor, as well as by several members on the European Parliament and Croatian politicians.
Darinko Kosor said that important guidelines for decentralisation in Croatia had not yet been implemented, and expressed hope that a political climate had been created for overhauling local and regional self-government.
