Josipovic visits JANAF, DIOKI during his tour of Primorje County

Autor: mses
RIJEKA, April 29 (Hina) - During his day-long visit to Primorje-Gorski Kotar County on Thursday, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic visited compounds of JANAF and Dina-Petrokemija, owned by DIOKI, on the island of Krk and held talks with the CEO of the Croatian oil pipeline operator, Ante Markov, and with the majority owner of the DIOKI petrochemicals and plastics producer, Robert Jezic.

After the talks, Josipovic expressed satisfaction with the results of those two companies, the level of investments, employment and their profits.

He said that the JANAF oil pipeline operator had both an economic and a strategic role in ensuring Croatia's energy independence, describing DIOKI as a highly modern and promising company.

"There are strategic projections for making Rijeka an important point in networks for supplying petroleum products to countries in this region as well as in western Europe," the Croatian president said.

He went on to say that Croatia might participate in international energy systems which could be the country's strategic factor, and added that environmental protection should be ensured in such processes, too.

In response to reporters' questions about JANAF's development plans, Markov said that this year the construction would begin on eight tanks for crude oil and that the company was planning to relocate the oil pipeline from Krk Bridge into an underground tunnel.

These two investments exceed HRK 1 billion, and funds will be ensured by JANAF, Markov said.
