AFGHANISTAN WOMEN PROTEST
epa10803107 Afghan women hold placards reading in Dari 'A Muslim can't go against women's education and work', during a protest as they demand their right to education and work in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, 16 August 2023. Women in Balkh, Afghanistan, expressed their dissatisfaction with the authorities during the celebration of the second anniversary of the Islamic Emirate's return to power. They protested against the neglect of their rights, specifically in education and employment. The women called for an end to the restrictions on their education and work and demanded that the Taliban government ensure women's rights in accordance with Islamic teachings. The high-ranking officials of the Taliban, who have announced the past two years and future plans during the celebration, failed to address the concerns of the women, which further angered them.
