As part of its educational process in performing arts, musical creativity, and musicology, the Academy organised more than 250 public events last academic year, contributing significantly to cultural policy, Lešnik said on the occasion of the Day of the Music Academy, which celebrates its 104th year of operation and the 10th anniversary of moving into its new building.
"The educational process at the Music Academy is at the highest level of relevance, quality, and efficiency, regardless of whether measurable indicators of goal achievement align or conflict with the specificities of the artistic field," said Lešnik.
He pointed out that current systematic funding covers only 58% of the Academy's recognised material costs over a four-year period, and between 2021 and 2024, the financial shortfall exceeded €1,200,000.
Lešnik advocated for prioritising artistic activity in the interpretation of the law, adding, "No arts academy can bridge the gap in public funding through its own resources."
