Croatian water polo team have final preparations in Vukovar before World Cup

Autor: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB,  4 Janu (Hina) -  Croatia's national water polo team had final training sessions in Vukovar on Friday and Saturday before their participation in the Water Polo World Cup 2025 in Romania next week.

The Water Polo World Cup 2025 season is back with Men's Division 1 tournament between 7 and 12 January 2025 in Bucharest, Romania.

"Visiting Vukovar means a lot to us. This is a heroic city that is recorded in the history of the Croatian people. It’s always a special feeling to come to this town. We were also at the opening of this swimming pool (in Borovo Naselje suburb) in 2017, and we will definitely come back in the future. I hope that the presence of the national team will spark additional interest in children and all people who love this sport," said coach Ivica Tucak.

While finishing their preparations in Vukovar for the upcoming contest, members of the national water polo squad visited the Water Tower,  a landmark of the eastern Croatian city and also one of the symbols of the resistance of the defence forces during the siege of Vukovar by the Serb paramilitaries and the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) in 1991.

They also spent time with the young players of VK Vukovar, signing autographs and taking photos with their young fans, reported the Croatian Water Polo Federation (HVS).
