ROMANIA ELECTIONS PROTEST
epa11748603 Romanian protesters shout slogans and hold up placards while braving the rain during a protest at the University Plaza, against far-right independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu, in central Bucharest, Romania, 29 November 2024. Students and civil rights activists continue their protests against the far-right independent runoff candidate Calin Georgescu, whose declarations worried human right activists. Romania's Constitutional Court (CCR) on 28 November instructed the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) to recount all ballots from the first round of presidential elections held on 24 November, following complaints from two candidates. On 29 November the court announced that the final decision had been postponed until 02 December, the day after the Parliamentary elections. The placard reads: 'BEC, ARE YOU AFRAID OF OBSERVERS?'.
