Airbus said their Perlan Mission II, the first initiative in the world to pilot an engineless aircraft to the edge of space, made history in El Calafate, Argentina on 27 August 2018 by flying in the stratosphere to a pressure altitude of over 62,000 feet (60,669 feet GPS altitude). It is the second such record after first record 03 September 2017 when the pressurized Perlan II reached the altitude of 52,221 feet GPS altitude in the same remote region of Patagonia in Argentina.
