Catalonia's Regional Government declared a drought emergency during which some six million residents from Barcelona and Girona provinces will be affected. The emergency is subdivided in three phases, each of them with more severe restrictions to be applied following the level of the reservoirs. From 02 February, each resident has a restricted consumption of 200 liters of water per day with limitations to industrial, farming and recreational uses as part of phase one of the drought emergency.
