epa11009232 The mummy of Ancient Egyptian pharaoh King Merenre I, Old Kingdom, Sixth Dynasty, is on display at the Imhotep Museum at the Saqqara necropolis during the museum's reopening after the completion of its restoration and development, in Saqqara, Giza Governorate, Egypt, 03 December 2023. The Imhotep Museum displays artifacts discovered in the Saqqara archaeological area. It was established in 1997 to honor Imhotep, the Ancient Egyptian architect of the pyramid tomb design, and officially opened in 2006. The Imhotep Museum underwent renovations by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in 2023 to make it more visitor-friendly. The museum's exhibition halls were upgraded and special paths were created for elderly and disabled visitors. The cafeteria, bazaars, and audiovisual room, which displays films about the archaeological site of Saqqara, were also all redesigned. EPA/KHALED ELFIQI
