Jun Liu, a research associate professor of the Hefei University of Technology, published his ancient fossil findings on 15 February 2017 in Nature Communications, revealing first evidence of live birth in animals thought to lay eggs. The embryo may have been around half a meter long and positioned inside the rib cage of an adult Dinocephalosaurus fossil, which was discovered in 2008 in Luoping County, Yunnan Province, Southern China.
