Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - The Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) has assessed that the sales turnover on Black Friday (23 November) and throughout this Black Week might reach about HRK 500 million, and underline that shops in the whole of Croatia have introduced various sales with prices reduced between 20% to 70% in the "Black Friday" period, also known as Black Week.

Black Friday is an informal name for the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Black Friday has been regarded as the beginning of America's Christmas shopping season since 1952. In Europe, including Croatia, "Black Friday" retailer advertisements can refer to "Black Week" and "Black Shopping", with sales possibly lasting an entire week.

In Croatia, a growing number of retailers have been joining in this campaign in recent years.

According to the Adobe company's assessments of online shopping, online sales on Black Friday this year in the USA could reach USD 5.9 billion, 15% more than last year.

Internet Retailer, a company that publishes e-commerce analyses, assesses that the turnover in online shopping from Friday to Sunday will jump to USD 21.6 billion, an estimate 25% higher than Adobe's.
