Korean-Croatian business forum focuses on cooperation in cosmetics industry

Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - Croatian and Korean companies have good potential for the enhancement of cooperation in the cosmetics industry, according to conclusions of the sixth Korean-Croatian business forum held in Zagreb on Wednesday.

The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Korea Business Center Zagreb (KOTRA), the Croatian-Korean Business Club, and the Foundation of Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute, under the auspices of Croatia's Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce.

This forum has been annually held in Zagreb since 2013, its main aim the promotion of business partnerships between business people of Korea and Croatia.

This year’s event focused on boosting cooperation in the cosmetics industry, which was found to be a field of mutual interest.

Korean Ambassador Park Won-sup recalled that the previous five forums had been dedicated to energy, infrastructure, ICT and tourism.

He said that the Korean cosmetics industry had potential to enter the Croatian market, and added that Korean tourists visiting Croatia had opportunities of using Croatian products from that industrial sector.

The head of the Croatian-Korean Business Club, Zoran Horvat, said that bilateral economic relations had been growing stronger and stronger from year to year.

He underlined the importance of introducing direct flights of Korean Air between Zagreb and Seoul as of 1 September.

Horvat said this would be conducive to efforts to increase the number of Koreans visiting Croatia.

Last year, a half million guests from that Asian country were registered in Croatia.

The direct flight service will also help strengthen the exchange between entrepreneurs in the two countries.

Horvat also hailed the announced opening of Croatia's embassy in Korea in October.

The Labour and Pension System Ministry's State Secretary Majda Buric said that the two countries would next month sign contracts on social insurance between them.
