The president said this year was very important for Novi Vinodolski as it marked the 730th anniversary of the Law Codex of Vinodol, which she said was one of the most modern codes in Europe at the time, as well as the 140th anniversary of tourism in the town and the 15th anniversary of the Rose of Vinodol.
The president said such events, which combined the old and the new, were "the key to the development of tourism" as tourists wanted more than just the sun, the sea, a beautiful nature and cultural monuments. They also want "the revival of national, old folk customs."
Asked by the press about the development of the Vinodol region, she said it could be based on agriculture. "I think we can find a niche for safe biological products in the EU. The soil here is clean, uncontaminated. Production is traditional and I think we have all the prerequisites for success."
