The goal of the partnership is for Rimac Autumobili to become a leading supplier of technology for the high-performance electric car market, and consolidate its position as a manufacturer of some of the most exciting electric cars in the world.
Rimac Automobili added that the cooperation with Porsche is an important step in its strategic plan which aims to position the company as a major supplier for large carmakers.
Porsche's Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT, Lutz Meschke, said the company saw Rimac's ideas and the approach to the electric mobility market very promising, and that it hopes "to enter into close collaboration with the company."
"Rimac has impressively demonstrated its credentials in the field of electromobility," Meschke said. "We feel that Rimac's ideas and approaches are extremely promising, which is why we hope to enter into close collaboration with the company in the form of a development partnership."
"This partnership now is an important step for Rimac on our way to become a component and system supplier of choice for the industry in electrification, connectivity and the exciting field of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems," Mate Rimac said.
As of June 2018, founder and CEO Mate Rimac is still the majority owner of both Rimac Automobili and Greyp Bikes.
In less than 10 years, Rimac has built his company from scratch in his own garage to a producer of some of the most exotic sports cars in the world. Rimac has about 400 employees. In addition to cars and EV tech, it also produces a pretty cool e-bike, under its subsidiary Greyp Bikes.
