The Lancet: Croatia ranked 30th in healthcare access and quality

ZAGREB, May 25 (Hina) - Croatia is ranked 30th in terms of healthcare access and quality, The Lancet medical journal has reported based on a survey of 195 countries and territories.

The survey analyses mortality rates from causes that should not be fatal in the presence of effective medical care.

Countries and territories are ranked according to the Healthcare Access and Quality Index for 2016, with 100 being the highest and 0 the lowest score.

The most successful country according to that criterion is Iceland, with a score of 97, followed by Norway, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Australia.

Croatia is ranked 30th with a score of 87, one place below the United States.

As far as the ranking goes in the region, Italy is ranked 9th, Slovenia 21st, Hungary 40th, Montenegro 42nd, Serbia 50th, and Bosnia and Herzegovina 62nd.

The Central African Republic and Somalia are at the bottom of the ranking, with a score of 19.
