ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - German retailers are the most desirable employers in Croatia owing to harmonious relations, job safety, promotion opportunities and high salaries, according to the findings of a survey which the MojPosao job portal released on Tuesday.

The most desirable employer this year was DM, followed by Lidl and Mueller.

Nearly 25% of the 10,000 respondents said the crucial factor in an employer's attractiveness were harmonious relations in the workplace, while 23% cited job safety. One in five respondents cited promotion opportunities, 18% cited salaries and 11% cited the opportunity to climb the corporate ladder.

The DM retail chain is the most desirable employer regardless of education, age or place of residence. Another retailer, Lidl, is the second most desirable among those with high school education, while the Rimac Automobili car maker is the second most desirable among those with university degrees.

The Infinum software company is among the top ten employers among respondents still in school, while Rimac Automobili ranks third among respondents under 32.

Over one-third of respondents wish to work for a private foreign company, one in five wish to work for a Croatian institution while 16% would choose a foreign institution, and only 14% would choose a state company.

DM is the most desirable employer among both men and women. The company is attractive to one in five women and 7.7% of men. The second most desirable employer among women is Lidl, followed by Mueller, which is not in the men's top ten. Men chose Rimac Automobili as the second most desirable employer, followed by Lidl.
