Speaking of the cultural cooperation, Grabar-Kitarovic expressed satisfaction that during her visit a programme of cultural cooperation for the period from 2018 to 2021 was signed between the two countries.
Grabar-Kitarovic also met with representatives of the Chilean Croat community whom she told that she wanted to work with them on creating an atmosphere in which each emigrant would feel welcome in their ancestors' country.
The Croatian president posthumously decorated Croat Chilean Lenka Franulic Zlatar for her exceptional contribution, as a writer and journalist, to the promotion of Croatia's heritage and culture and presented the Charter of the Republic of Croatia to the associations Sociedad Croata de Socorros Mutuos and Club de Deportes Hrvatski sokol for the promotion of the Croatian heritage, language, culture, education, science and sports as well as for strengthening economic cooperation between Croatia and Chile and preserving the Croat national identity in Chile.
Before leaving Antofagasta, at the end of her visit to Chile, Grabar-Kitarovic was also expected to plant an olive tree in the Croatian park Parque Croatia and visit the voluntary firefighting association "Dalmacia", the "Hrvatski sokol" society and the Antofagasta Croatian Club.
