The head of the HGK Zagreb branch, Zlatan Froehlich, said that there were realistic possibilities for increasing trade between the two countries, notably in the fields of energy, electrical and food industries as well as tourism, given the growing number of Australian visitors to Croatia. In 2017, 210,000 Australians visited Croatia.
The HGK Zagreb branch expects a free trade agreement between Australia and the EU to contribute to greater trade between Croatia and Australia.
Around 200,000 Croatian expatriates live in Australia and they could serve as an important link in intensifying economic, cultural and social relations between the two countries.
The Croatian business delegation visiting Australia is also expected to attend the signing of a cooperation agreement between the cities of Osijek and Canada Bay, and they will wrap up their stay in Australia by visiting Brisbane, where a business forum will be held with business people from the state of Queensland.
