Croatia 21st in Henley Passport Index

ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - In terms of the power of a passport to enable visa-free travel, Serbia ranks 41st in the 2018 Henley Passport Index as its passport holders can travel to 119 countries without a visa, while Slovenia and Croatia rank better, Belgrade electronic media have said, adding that Germany ranks first as its passport holders have visa-free access to 177 countries.

Singapore ranks second (176 countries), while Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Great Britain share third place (175 countries). The US ranks fifth as its passport holders have visa-free access to 173 countries.

On the territory of the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia is the highest ranked (11th) as its passport holders enjoy visa-free travel to 167 countries, Croatia is 21st (155 countries), Macedonia 46th (112 countries), Montenegro 48th (110 countries), and Bosnia and Herzegovina 51st (105 countries).

At the bottom of the rankings are Syria as its passport holders can travel to 28 countries without a visa, Iraq (27 countries) and Afghanistan (24 countries).

The index is produced in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association, which maintains the world’s largest database of travel information.

Arton Capital: Singapore passport most powerful, Croatia passport's visa-free score 144 countries

According to a survey made by the Arton Capital consulting company, the Singapore passport is the most powerful, with 159 countries allowing Singaporeans to visit them visa-free, whereas holders of Croatia's passport do not need visas when travelling to 144 countries.

According to the Global Passport Power Rank 2017, Singapore passports top the ranking that covers 144 countries, followed by Germany with a visa-free score of 158. Swedish passport holders can travel without a visa to as many as 157 countries.

Croatia ranks 38th, with a visa-free score of 144 countries.

At the bottom of the ranking is Afghanistan, given that Afghans can travel without visa requirements to only 22 countries.

Also, passports of Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Somalia have the lowest power in terms of visa-free travel.

Historically, the top 10 most powerful passports in the world were mostly European, with Germany having the lead for the past two years. Since early 2017, the number one position was shared with Singapore, which was steadily going up, it said.
