The northern Adriatic city of Rijeka this year organised its first Children's New Year's Eve party with entertainment, kid-friendly champagne and a mini disco.
The residents of the coastal town of Novi Vinodolski too traditionally saw the year out at noon, loudly welcoming 2018. Over 3,000 people rallied in the central square, mainly Croatian tourists and locals. Mayor Velimir Piskulic gave a toast with the autochthonous champagne "1288", named after the year in which the Law Codex of Vinodol was adopted.
The residents of Samobor, near Zagreb, and their guests, also ushered in 2018 at noon. The nice weather drew many locals to the main square, where free sausages and mulled wine were distributed. There was also a special programme for kids. Samobor will welcome the New Year also at midnight with waltz and a firework display.
Sisak too organised its first Children's New Year Eve party, beginning at 10 am in the Fairy's Workshop and Santa Claus's House, featuring child singers, groups and dancers, and culminating at noon, when the littlest ones greeted their New Year, drinking kid-friendly champagne. The town authorities plan this event to become a tradition.
In the northern Adriatic city of Pula on Saturday, Mayor Boris Miletic took part in cooking the traditional New Year's frittata with 2,018 eggs and sausages which was then served to citizens.
