As many as 16 national teams will be included in four groups that will compete in four Croatian cities: the capital of Zagreb, Porec, Varazdin and Split.
The final matches for the gold, silver and bronze medals will be held in Zagreb's Arena Centre on 28 January.
This is the second time that Croatia is hosting European Men's Handball Championship. The first time was in 2000.
Apart from Croatia, the other 15 national teams that will take part in the event are Spain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, Hungary, Serbia, Belarus, Montenegro, Norway, Slovenia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Macedonia and Iceland.
