Over the next three months, professional instructors will meet with local digital entrepreneurs in about 15 towns across Croatia to help small and medium businesses increase growth and access global markets.
Free workshops will be organised to enable small and medium businesses to acquire practical knowledge and skills in using the advantages of Internet development.
Tomislav Rados, the HGK vice-president for industry, IT, energy and environmental protection, said that by developing the digital economy it was possible to increase the European Union's GDP by at least four percent by 2020. He said that small and medium EU companies with a strong Internet presence and a digital business segment produced 10 percent more than others and that their exports and the number of jobs created were twice as high as those of companies not participating in the digital economy.
The European Commission estimates that 825,000 jobs will remain unfilled by 2020 because people will not have a sufficient level of digital skills.
