Malkovich will appear as a narrator alongside solo performances by young pianist Anastasya Terenkova and hornist Radovan Vlatkovic. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the Varazdin Chamber Orchestra directed by Italian maestro Alvise Casellati.
Malkovich thanked the organisers for inviting him and said he was very pleased to be able to perform in Zagreb for the first time. He had performed several times in Dubrovnik with violinist Julian Rachlin.
The famous actor will lend his voice to Fernando Vidal Olmos, a character from the chapter "Report on the Blind" in the 1961 novel "On Heroes and Tombs" by Argentine writer Ernesto Sabato.
This 24-minute work, which Malkovich developed with Russian pianist Ksenia Kogan, premiered in Seoul three years ago and has been performed worldwide, including London, Berlin, Helsinki and Buenos Aires.
The concert will be the first out of 14 planned for the 2017/2018 season at the Lisinski Concert Hall.
