"Sport is important for health and team building as well as for self-confidence," he said among other things.
According to an analysis made by the Croatian Central State Office for Sport, three fifths (62%) of the Croatians aged above 15 are not engaged in any physical activity or recreational sport.
"By organizing the EWoS, we aim to challenge stereotypes about limitations of participation in certain sports. Multiple activities, presentations and demonstrations through focus days, we plan to activate plethora of citizens on the national level," the Office said.
The European Week of Sport promotes sport and physical activity across Europe.
In Croatia, this is the third edition of this campaign.
As many as 20,000 participants are expected in six events organised within this drive that ends on 30 September in Vukovar.
