The project was launched by the Institute for Youth Development and Innovation (IRIM), with the Ministry of Science and Education and the Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARNet) as partners.
The project provides for the procurement of about 45,000 microcomputers for all six-graders who respond to the public call which will be open until September 20, IRIM co-founder Nenad Bakic said.
He said that 150-200 workshops for the training of about 2,000 teachers would be held at 30 locations across the country in October.
Science and Education Minister Blazenka Divjak said that the project would help the transition of schools from the 20th to 21st century.
CARNet director Goran Kezunovic estimated project costs at 4.8 million kuna (650,000 euros).
Microcomputers should be in schools by early November, the conference was told.
