ZAGREB, Aug 20 (Hina) - On the second day of her official trip to New Zealand, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic visited the biggest olive grove in the country, which is owned by local Croat Peter Simunovich, the president's office said on Sunday.

After that, she visited the Hobbiton film centre near Matamata, built for the filming of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "Hobbit" and later turned into a very popular tourist attraction. In talks with the centre's management, the president discussed the transformation of a film set into a tourist attraction and the increasing interest of the film industry in shooting in Croatia.

Grabar-Kitarovic and New Zealand Trade Minister Todd McClay then visited the Te Puia Springs. They discussed tourism, the biggest export industry of both countries, focusing on the importance of preserving natural beauties and traditional skills such as woodwork which contribute to the preservation of the heritage and the making of native souvenirs, the press release said.

The president then visited the Ngatamariki geothermal power station, the biggest of its kind in the world, discussing with its management all aspects of exploiting geothermal wells as a very exploitable source of renewable energy. They also talked about the possibility of synergy and connecting power plants with other industries in order to increase exploitability and efficiency.
