Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak

ZAGREB, Aug 4 (Hina) - The biggest Croatian amusement park, Fun Park Mirnovec, was officially opened in the coastal town of Biograd na Moru on Thursday evening, two weeks after a trial opening.

The official opening ceremony was attended by State Property Minister Goran Maric who said that this project was proof of great relationship between local self-government units and investors.

The minister said he received information that 120 people had already been hired to work in the amusement part and approximately 1,000 worked on the project.

The country's first theme amusement park, intended for children and adults, was built on the model of world-famous adrenaline parks and is the biggest investment in the country's amusement industry, worth EUR 14 million.

It covers an area of 45,000 square metres and was designed by Italian architect Franco Barazzoni, one of the world's most famous architects for amusement parks.

The investor is Mirnovec Pirotehnika, a producer of fireworks equipment and visual effects based in Samobor near Zagreb.

The fun park employs 120 workers, including 20 on a permanent basis.

The park consists of three sections - Wild West, Space and Pirate Town, with about 30 attractions. It will be open in the period from the Easter to New Year's holidays. During the shoulder season it will operate on weekends and during the peak tourist season it will be open every day.
