Intense heat hits Croatia

Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, Aug 3 (Hina) - A new heat wave, which began in Croatia at the start of this week, is intensifying and will cover the most of the country with temperatures ranging between 35 and 41 degrees in the coming days.

Apart from the heat, the south of the country is struggling with the drought and wildfires.

The national weather service has issued a heat alert for the whole country and many cities are put on the highest heat risk level, level 3-red, over the next few days.

In this period of torrid heat, a big increase may be registered in hospital emergency room arrivals. Therefore citizens, primarily those diagnosed with diseases, are advised to stay indoors  or in air conditioning between between 10am and 5pm and open up homes at night if it cools down.
