The Croatian company that received the largest number of awards this year was the Podravka food company, which won recognition for about 15 of its products. It was followed by the drinks producer Badel 1862 and a string of small producers.
Among the recipients was Miroslav Matausic, owner of the Frelimo company based in Samobor, Croatia's largest producer of pork cracklings.
"This gives us a further encouragement to work more on the quality of our product and increase exports," Matausic told Hina.
Frelimo currently exports its cracklings to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Sweden.
The Superior Taste Award, presented by iTQi since 2005, is a non-competitive prize open to any food and drink products available in retail stores. In order to participate, producers are required to pay an entry fee of between 750 and 1,650 euros, depending on their annual income.
Products are blind tested by a jury of 135 first-class chefs and sommeliers. Testing is carried out in 360 different product categories.
